Currently Watching: Itaewon Class

Itaewon Class is my current krack drama! I just cannot get enough of this badass show. Adapted from a popular webtoon, I was not familiar with the story at all. Stupid me thought it is a high school drama based on the word “Class”. However, as it turns out, it was not a drama about rebellious teenagers. This is a drama about revenge and to prove to a certain someone that money plays a minor role in order to succeed in life. It is a business drama – very ambitious and aggressive yet appropriate. Totally well written and acted by the casts. I love how the antagonists love stirring the pot in order to provoke the protagonist. He is definitely provoked!

Currently Watching: Doctor John

I spent my weekend marathoning Doctor John! I started the first four episodes in Malaysia but did not get to continue. It felt good to continue watching this drama. Ji Sung never fails me and he is the reason I am watching Doctor John. I guess he is the reason I can handle this medical drama. There were not many bloody scenes as I thought it would be; thank goodness I survive. Now before this drama, I know nothing about pain management. But now, I am very curious. Even got me google for it!

Just Watched: Encounter aka Boyfriend

Yes, I finished Boyfriend and I am glad I did not drop it. To be honest, I really liked it. It was such a sweet drama and it was delightful to watch Park Bo Gum and Song Hye Kyo together. The slow pace is bothersome to some. I know that. Many drops because they could not see the chemistry between the pairing. I had my reservation as well with this pairing. Bo Gum did not disappoint me although I feel like he smiles way loads in this drama. Sometimes, I feel his character is a bit stalkerish but I get it. When you are in love, you want to be with the person you’re in love with 24/7. However, I also felt that he wasted his time in this drama even though I regretted saying it now when I saw his peak performance in episode 15. I can’t help but cheer for his awesome performance for a heartbroken man and son.

Currently Watching: The Guest

Finally, a drama I could brag about! Scary? Maybe. Intrigue? Yes. Interesting? Absolutely. Romance? Get the hell out of here. However, I must say, The Guest is not for the weak heart. Surprisingly, my heart is strong to handle all the grossness. I started watching it when I was in Myanmar. Jet lag is my best friend and it gives me ample of time to catch on new dramas. Hence, I started 100 Days My Prince and of course, The Guest. Bel warned me to watch it at day but I could not resist. When someone says that, it felt like a challenge. The worse part was I saw the first episode while having dinner! I felt so satisfying watching the bloodiest scene while slurping my delicious pasta con funghi!

Currently Watching: Are You Human Too?

Sigh, despite my busy schedule, I managed to start another new drama again! I want to kick my butt but that gotta hurt, right? *laughs* I can’t help it, though. Besides, it’s Seo Kang Joon. I can’t missed this cutie pie. On top of that, Lee Joon Hyuk is back! I feel like winning a lottery seeing him twice in three months! Also, Gong Seung Yeon is in this drama. Another talented cutie pie. I enjoyed her so much.

Currently Watching: My Lovable Girl

Aaaaaah, Rain oppa. I have never seen his other dramas but Full House. I hated him so much for torturing Han Ji Eun but at the same time the feels I got from watching his naughty yet cold ‘tude really, really worked on me. So remembering my experience of watching Full House, I was hoping to get that same cutesy effect from My Lovable Girl. Well *knocks her head with her hand*, what was I thinking? These are two different dramas. Two different genres. Full House was a romantic comedy, and My Lovable Girl is just romance drama. But a girl can dream, right? *shrugs*

In the beginning, My Lovable Girl was not on my watch radar. One of my kakao gf saw the first episode and wasn’t impressed. I blindly took her advice and decided not to watch. And then Michele started texting to me on it. And I suddenly realized, Infinite L is in it! L!!!! MyungSoo!!!!! My other pretty boy is in it! Oh mo, I told myself I’ll regret for the rest of my kdrama life if I don’t start watching it. Plus, the way Michele was describing it, I found it very interesting and intriguing! And I’m glad I listened to her. So, so glad. I marathoned the first 6 episodes in a day! Yes, I was highly addicted with the drama by the end of episode 6 and immediately had withdrawal because the waiting for the next episode began thereafter.

The story line is pretty simple and extremely predictable. You and I can read it very well. So why bother watching it? We watch it because of the presentation with different actors,  of course! Same plot line presented in different circumstances. How can I possibly give it a pass? Besides, it’s Rain and L and it involves music. Somewhat but I love music. My Lovable Girl is a life story of Hyun Wook, a composer and producer of an entertainment company. He came back from his looooong hiatus, after losing his songwriter girlfriend to an accident that potentially partially his fault. He later met Se Na. At the time, Se Na was just a hotel employee assigned to care for Hyun Wook’s adorable golden retriever. He then hired her as his pet sitter. He found out one day that Se Na wanted to be a songwriter and eventually discovered that she is his late girlfriend’s sister. He took her under his entertainment business wing. Unfortunately, her presence was very unwelcoming by his team and it was especially taken it hard by Jae Yeong, the company’s own songwriter and producer. He created a havoc and tore the company’s best kpop group apart and leaving Shi Woo, one of Infinite Power member, behind.

Shi Woo was the prettiest of the Infinite Power member but lacking vocal talent. His team pushed him away and blaming his popularity is nothing but his own appearance. He was very arrogant at the very beginning and used his celebrity title to win all, but in the end he came to realize that he got nothing to brag about. SeNa really pushed his boundaries in a way and made him understand his own ability and was humble by it. In the beginning, SeNa composed a non-typical kpop song for his solo debut but he rejected it thinking a fast, upbeat tempo would get the crowd to love him back. He blew it and ended up injured while performing on the stage and losing respect from his fans more and more. SeNa helped him made a come back and the song was extremely humble and down-to-earth, written to acknowledge his mom.

In the process of all this, Shi Woo slowly falling for SeNa while she’s falling for the handsome dog man aka Hyun Wook. By the end of episode 12, SeNa found out Hyun Wook’s real identity and by the end of episode 13, Shi Woo took heartbroken SeNa and made his. Of course he didn’t say it but action speaks louder than word. This is where Hyun Wook made the biggest mistake of his life by not being honest to SeNa. The girl is hurt. Shi Woo is already making her his. So what do we expect in the next 3 episodes? I, for once, really really hope that the second lead won the first lead’s heart! I want Shi Woo to win the final prize! Beside, it is just wrong to date your sister’s boyfriend! Don’t you agree? Yeah, that’s my prediction but who knows… KDrama is pretty much awesome at breaking their watchers’ hearts. SeNa could ends up forgiving Hyun Wook and go back to him (or not!). *shudders* I’m praying hard that for once, ONCE, that the second lead win! Who is on Team ShiWoo, please raise your hands! Besides, the chemistry between Rain and Krystal is pretty awful as a couple. Krystal and Myung Soo are way better as a couple and are more realistic considering their age and all. Amuden, this 16 episodes drama is nice and lovely even though it sometimes leaves you frustrating. Don’t get me wrong, the frustrating is okay and I get it why Hyun Wook didn’t want to be frank with SeNa. It is what it is too in real life. If you are into a mush mush drama, My Lovable Girl is for you. I like it since it is a light drama, it cools me off from my angsty dailies.

Currently Watching: Secret Love Affair

Pppssssstttt…… Sssssshhhh, keep it down. It’s a secret! We cannot let this secret out or else, one of us is going to die! *giggles* Just kidding! I’m just messing with y’all. But let me tell you a little secret. Secret Love Affair was never in my list to watch until DDee from Obsessive Compulsive K-Drama Watching Disorder started spamming her Facebook and blog about it over and over and over until…. OK, I get it DDee. Point taken completely! I’ll watch it! Rawwwwwwww! And when I found out that the main lead actress is Kim Hee Ae, hell yeah I’ll jump in on this wagon. I’m a big fan of her work! Well… I haven’t seen all of her work but Midas. But *swaying her index finger* one drama was enough to evaluate how good she is as an actress! Anyways…..

Moving back to Secret Love Affair… Well, I kind of feel cheated a bit by this drama though. I thought it was about an affair and a whole lotta steamy hanky panky affair, but what I did not know is that it is more than an affair drama. The secret is just a cover up as the show also led us to the secret life of socials and socialites! Hmmmm where the hell is my affair??? I want steamy affair, and not some power struggle! Urgh… I got a bit frustrated but I decided to give it a go regardless… *shrugs*

The drama tells a story of Oh Hye-Won, a once a musical prodigy turned director in a performing art school. Her husband, Kang Joon Hyeong, is music professor in the same school. Hye-Won has a secret life. Aside as a director, she also manages the music school’s family foundation money. So on the surface, you will see an elegant, well-composed, and classy lady. But deep down, she’s basically lead a different life. From what I observe, she’s like an upgrade French maid. She gets to dress well but behind the scene, she get slapped, splashed water to her face and yelled by the family foundation. *facepalm* I guess the money was so good for her not to say a single word to anyone! Now, to spice up her already glamorous life, here comes Lee Sun Jae marching into her life. Whether it is coincidence or not, it is hard to tell… At least from Sun Jae’s perspective. Why? When SLA introduced Sun Jae, I couldn’t tell whether he fell in love with Hye-Won at first sight or he was mesmerized by the music or both. Sun Jae is a gifted, self taught pianist. Unfortunately, he never received a proper music education due to his family’s poor condition. Instead, he got creative by creating his space in his tiny apartment that he shared with his mom with an old, used piano and soundproofing it with eggs cardboard. Scccchmart!

Anyway, Joon Hyeong overheard a pianist playing in the auditorium one night and mistaken it for one of his students. But when he found out it was Sun-Jae, he went berserk and insisted on his wife to use whatever mighty power she has to scout Sun Jae to be his students even though the enrollment to the school has closed. He even made Hye Won auditioned Sun Jae. That basterd really want Sun Jae for his own good actually! *clenching teeth* The audition scene was one of the most beautiful scene I’ve seen in my kdrama life. I so want to make it out with both of them! *nods* I’m not kidding. Their chemistry was unbelievable! From then on, even though Hye Won hesitated she still made Sun Jae a student in the school. And Sun Jae turned her life upside down. But her life turned out more beautiful than ever despite the illegal consummate she had with him. She was able to see life! A life she never seen throughout her marriage life. Nevertheless, she constantly received pressure due to her affairs and her other life. Her other life is pretty dangerous. A slash fund is at stake. I’m skeptical and worried at the same time. What would happen to her? Can she handle all these on her own? She is so composed I never seen her once breaking down.

Secret Love Affair is sort of misleading but in a good way drama. I’m a fan of this type of drama though. Some says it is boring. Yes, I admit the pace of this drama is sloooooowwwww! However, I find it intriguing and giddy every minute of my time watching it. I’m excited to finish this show. I think it is the best melodrama in awhile regardless of its pace. It is NOT for everyone. It is hard to even recommend it because I personally found it irresistible not to watch! If you want to watch it, give it the first 4 episodes and see if you can handle it… The story gets richer after episode 4… And in addition, good performance by the OTP! I don’t think you should consider… just watch!
