Currently Watching: Lookout

I am currently hooked on Lookout aka The Guardians. Seriously, this show is captivating and is worthy of your time. Each episode is like a rollercoaster. The suspense will keep you at the edge of your seat. To be honest, I keep thinking why aren’t many people watching this show. Is it because of the lack of romance? I don’t get it. There is much happiness in watching dramas and romance is one of them but romance can’t give you the satisfaction like a crime/thriller drama could give you. The kickass! One more thing! Lookout has action! And Lee Shi Young is giving us the action! Gold action!

Just Watched: Proof of Innocence

d4vWkyZ1_dce714_fThis movie has been on my to-watch list and thank goodness it’s available on my flight. I feel sad watching it because of Kim Young Ae. Her recent passing news due to cancer devastated the Korean industry. She was truly a dedicated actress and even worked to the end of her life. What an admirable actress. May she rest in peace.

Currently Watching: Lucky Romance

A math genius falling in love with a beauty? It’s Beauty and the Beast, but only funnier! Hell ya, I’m watching it! Why should I not, right? The show is just hilarious, cute and bubbly. I really can’t. I look forward to Lucky Romance every week. The show is so light and easy to watch. There is no angsty whatsoever here. The so-called villain? Where? I don’t see it! Exactly, yeoreobun, this show is such an easy watch I’m surprised that it will end next week! I know! Time flies and this time, it really did fly way too fast!

The reason I started Lucky Romance was because of Hwang Jung Eum. She’s my babe. I pretty much have seen most of her recent dramas. Most people dislike her because she tends to scream a lot. I admit her screams can be super screechy but because I’m biased, I tend to accept it. But I had a fear with her co-star Ryu Joon Yeol. When the network announced that these two are the OTP, I had mixed feelings. I couldn’t picture these two together. This is my time watching Ryu Joon Yeol. I did not watch his Reply 1988 but many raves his acting skill. Ironically I did pray before I started Lucky Romance! I’m glad I did; Lucky Romance is worth my time!

Back to the story, it is definitely Beauty and the Beast style. Sort of. He’s not really literally a beast but he is definitely moody, quirky, weird, and can be a total nut case! You just have to see the way he behaves. Su Ho is the genius behind Zeze, a famous game developer company. So he hired Bo Nui as a consultant after watching her game pitch. He decided to take up on her idea and develop it. Bo Nui is a superstitious girl. She has been very unlucky in life. Her parents died early and she’s left to care for herself and baby sister. And her younger sister met into a deadly accident and was left in a coma.

Bo Nui listens to her fortune teller religiously. So in whatever she does, she will seek advice and guidance through fortune teller. It was him that told her that she needs to sleep with a man to wake her baby sis from her coma. But, there is one condition! The man has to be born with a tiger sign. Guess who was born in the year of tiger? Su Ho! She pursued him badly but he refused. They even signed a contract but he just couldn’t sleep with her until one day when he saw her so desperately agreed to sleep with another man that he finally, sort of, agreed to sleep. Just sleep. And the curse was reversed. Her sister awake. But the curse also said that she should sleep with him, not to fall in love with him. Too late because the two fell in love! Zeze took a toll when the released game came with a deadly virus. Su Ho volunteered to leave the company and accepted the fate of his future.

Bo Nui fell bad and reached out to her fortune teller. Unfortunately, she was told to leave him in order to put things back to where it should. So our suspicious girl is torn and debating what to do. So should she listen to the fortune teller and leave Su Ho (which eventually saving Zeze), or should she ignore and let the fate deal with her future? Yeap, it is tough to decide. At this point, I already knew the answer but I won’t say much since we are two episodes to finish. Lucky Romance is an easy watch, so please, do add it to your watch list!

Just Watched: Wonderful Nightmare

Ok, I finally saw a movie that is worth my time!!! Seriously, most Korean movies I’ve seen lately bore me to death. The plots were either incomplete, ridiculous or just lame. And most of the time, they love luring watchers with pretty men! Sure, but can they act? But Wonderful Nightmare is different! When Bel and Grace told me to watch it, I knew I could trust them. These two ladies are avid movie watchers. I have two eonnies that know what are they talking about!

Wonderful Nightmare was released back in August. I’ve heard of it from grapevine but never paid attention to it. I was extremely busy with real life and buckets after buckets of dramas. *shrugs* I have too many. Really. I’m a bit ashamed of myself now. But hey, this is not the time to feel down because Wonderful Nightmare is extremely wonderful and great! Please do not be fool by nightmare as it was not a nightmare at all. By the end of this movie, I was left with tears. Happy tears! I just could not believe the twisted ending…

Wonderful Nightmare told a story of a successful lawyer named Yeon Woo. One night, she had an accident that left her in coma. In her coma stage, he met an angel. He introduced himself as Director Kim. Kim sort of guided her coma life and offered her a second chance at living. But before going back to herself, she woke up as an ordinary housewife to Sung Hwan and a mother to Ha Neul and Ha Roo. Yeon Woo panicked. As a successful career woman, she is all about in control and this new life totally ruined her. She worked hard to adjust in this new life and it took her series of turning events to turn herself into loving the life she is in. But when Kim told her that her time is running out, she had a panicked moment. She grew attached to the kids and this made me sad. When she woke up, Sung Hwan and the kids are nowhere to be found. But later, she realized that what she needs is a change. So when she browsed her old photos, she discovered that Director Kim was her late dead! Oh my goodness, what a shocking! But the best news of all was that on her way to visit her dad’s site burial, she met up with Sung Hwan and the kids again! Yay!!!! *claps*

I think her late dad was secretly matchmaking his daughter *giggle*. At the same time, it sort of give Yeon Woo a reality check. She’s been focusing deeply into her career and neglecting her life. There are more to look forward to when you have a family. In the end, this movie did not only made me cry, it gives a true meaning that there are more to life than just going money and status. I highly recommend Wonderful Nightmare. It’s funny, smart, witty, passionate, with heart, and deep. I can see this as drama… A really good spin!

Currently Watching: Wonderful Days

After Goddess of Marriage, I got quite skeptical in starting on another weekend family drama. I’m afraid of the angst, makjang like plots. It affects my mood and I do not want to treat people with anger. But because it has Lee Seo Jin aka dimple ahjusshi, I changed my mind. I fell in love with him when kfangurl introduced me to him through Lovers aka gangsta love story. Wow, that dimples… Really, really something. Can I go on forever? He’s that handsome!

Wonderful Days is a wonderful family drama. Minimal angst although I loathe the female lead’s mother to the max! Ooops, sorry I’m not supposed to say that out loud in the public *sticks her tongue out*. But for any of you who are watching this with me, I’m sure ya’ll would agree my resentment towards her. Other than that, the plotting of Wonderful Days is pretty awesome. What I like the most about this drama is the warm feeling you get being in a family which I’m lacking at this moment. Though the idea of living under the same roof with my parents can be a little daunting, but it has some benefits as well. You get to dine together as family (which I missed this experience the most!), you don’t have to do all the house chores alone and you can always count on someone to care for you when you’re ill.

collageAnyway, Wonderful Days tells a story of Kang Dong Suk. He was a smart boy in school but unfortunately, his family condition forced him to run away to the  big city in search of life and secure his future. He later  became a successful prosecutor and was sent back to his hometown to lead in one of the cases there. Because he ran away from home, he hesitated to meet his family nor staying at his childhood home. But later on, because of his ill grandfather, he was forced to move back into his family home and live with his family that seems strangers to him. Cha Hae Won, a girl who has been head over heel with Dong Suk, came from a wealthy family. Dong Suk’s mom work at her home as a housekeeper who does everything Hae Won’s mother told her to. She originally wanted to run away to the big city with Dong Suk but because of her mom’s nasty remarks about how he’s so poor and came from an uncivilized family, she was left alone. Fast forward to current life, Hae Won became a loan officer who gives a hefty fines for a loan shark company that is owned by Oh Seung Hoon. Her family wealth is all gone after her dad passed away. She is now living in poorest neighborhood and support her ungrateful mom (who still trying to act that she’s a rich woman) and her wannabe actress sister.

So the drama started when Dong Suk met Hae Wan through a fight with Dong Suk’s half brother, Kang Dong Hee. They both are working together and from then on, Dong Suk’s feeling for Hae Won grew stronger and stronger. But the object came from her mom at the beginning and it was hard to swallow. Later on, his family objected as well after they found out that it was Hae Won’s late dad that caused the accident that left his harabeoji paralyzed and his twin sister mentally challenged (though I do not see her being mentally challenged at all!).

collageMy last episode was on episode 32 out of 50. I’m certainly behind with this drama but no sweat, chingus coz once I started, I cannot stop. The story is so good and the surprises in this drama is Dong Hee, played by 2PM TaecYeon. He is surprisingly good in his role! I last saw him in Who Are You? and when I thought he was good then, surprisingly he is way better in Wonderful Days! The  boy improved his acting skill big time! *snaps*. And the child actors are extremely good too! When you think it is impossible to have great acting, think again!  Amuden, Wonderful Days is one helluva great family drama! I really, really enjoying this show! Besides, the rating of this drama is crazy high! If the Korean loves it, then ya know it must be good! AND IT IS THAT GOOD!!! Watch it!
