Currently Watching: Lookout

I am currently hooked on Lookout aka The Guardians. Seriously, this show is captivating and is worthy of your time. Each episode is like a rollercoaster. The suspense will keep you at the edge of your seat. To be honest, I keep thinking why aren’t many people watching this show. Is it because of the lack of romance? I don’t get it. There is much happiness in watching dramas and romance is one of them but romance can’t give you the satisfaction like a crime/thriller drama could give you. The kickass! One more thing! Lookout has action! And Lee Shi Young is giving us the action! Gold action!

Magical Radios, dramatic soldiers, blended families and lots of great friendships: 2016 a year end review

Hello again!!! I finally got the girls (Nelly and Erl *waves*) back for another combined post. After “W” I was afraid we would never work together again.

My Love for end of year list is humongous, I read every single one I see. So I was very excited to put this one together.

The rules were simple: 1. Any show that aired in 2016 2. It can be SK, Taiwan, China and Japan 3. only get 2 picks per question and one honorable mention ( I suck at following my own rules).  Lastly 4. Only shows that have finish airing. I have tons of love for mermaids, weightlifting fairies and goblins, but they can’t be in this list! Also keep in mind, these are our opinions, life would be boring all loved the same things. Lastly guys there may be spoilers so please beware. Let’s get it started!  Continue reading

Taking A Dare! -Asian drama Style Day 16 to 20!

30 day challenge

Day 16: Drama that ruined your fondness for an actor/actress you previously liked.

BeFunky Collage

Me: Two dramas. Healer with Ji Chang Wook and Descendants of the Sun with Song Joong Ki. They didn’t do anything wrong, to be honest. BUT too many of them on my screen, social media (Instagram especially) really turn me off. Right now, I tend to avoid Joong Ki since his stock is still hot. But once the crowd slow down their fondness on him, I believe I’ll be back to appreciate him more. Just like when Chang Wook slows down on his appearance on tv, magazines, etc.

Mari: I’ll continue to drool for that man because he is Sex on legs but I’m not very excited about anything with Hyun Bin since Hyde, Jekyll, Me. I dropped it after 3 episodes and this was a first for me! I usually stick around if I like an actor ( Yes, Warm & Cozy, I did finish you!)

Erl: Descendants of the Sun – Song Joong-ki. It’s unbearably overwhelming seeing him almost every-freaking-where! One of the reasons that I can’t even finish the “stalking” post I promised to a sweet, sweet, friend. He’s no fun to stalk to anymore, the rarity is gone. And I adore this actor so much before the whole Descendants of the Sun craze. In my heart, I know I still adore him to pieces, but I can’t stand one more photo. I’m sorry Joong-ki, I still love you, but I just need to be free of you for now.

Day 17: Your favorite sidekick character in a drama.

BeFunky Collage

Me: Haitai from Reply 1994! How can’t you not like him?

Mari: the whole cast of “Reply 1988” including the parents! Yes, they were technically not all sidekicks but I love them all so much I love their stories. This also goes for all the characters in “High Kick through the roof: Revenge of the short-legged” every single character in the show was love!

Erl: Yong Soo-Cheol (Yoon Hyun-min) – A Witch’s Romance. He’s soooo cute and I was really envious of his relationship with Yoon Dong-ha. They’re just completely goofballs together.

Day 18: Your favorite second female lead character in a drama.

BeFunky Collage

Me: I really can’t think of any… They are mostly evil!

Mari: Bai Xue Fen from “In a good Way” she was pretty, popular, and genuinely a nice person. She was madly in love with Shan Feng but quickly accepted it was not going to happen and moved on. She also never hated Jian En and the two girls became best friends .

Erl: Shin Soon-ae from Oh My Ghostess. I love how Kim Seul-Gi portrayed that character. I mean who wouldn’t love a perverted ghost?

Day 19: Drama that started your obsession towards a particular actor/actress.

BeFunky Collage

Me: Operation: Proposal. This drama should take responsible for my obsession with Yoo Seung Ho. I saw the drama many times and since then on, I’ve been a hypnotized by this boy. Glad he’s no longer under 21! Otherwise, this noona is in truuuhble!

Mari: “The Devil Beside You”  After watching this show I fell in love with both Mike He & Rainie Yang. Mostly with her, I went on a binge of all her dramas “Why Why Love” “TogetHer” “Sunny Girl” and my favorite of hers “Drunken to love you“. I also watched that movie where she plays a girl that does show online/lesbian. In other words, I love her in anything! Mike He, I love but I can only watch Devil & “Sunny Happiness” with him since his other dramas are not that great.

Erl: Baker King Tak-Gu, the drama that started my Yoon Shi Yoon obsession. I’ve watched it about 4 times already and still, it never fails to make me cry.. That puppy.. And after his stint as a Marine.. Oh la la, come to noona! Anybody watching Mirror of the Witch would know what I’m talking about.

Day 20: Your favorite drama from a non-romance genre.

too_many_kdramas_meme_kdramafighting

Me: Hmmm… Signal, My Beautiful Bride, Cruel City, Nirvana in Fire, The Disguiser, Siren, Warrior Baek Soo Dong. I know there are a lot more but these are my current favorites.

Mari: Signal, Cruel City, Pied Piper, Mawang,  The village: Achiara’s Secret

Erl: Nirvana in Fire. I can’t even put into words the love I have for this drama. I was completely satisfied with it. I loved everything about it.

Just Watched: The Diary of A Resentful Woman and Hair Transplant Day

So, besides movies, I also saw two special dramas on the plane. One of them was called Diary of a Spinster, which thanks to Grace, I finally know the official title which is called The Diary of A Resentful Woman. Another drama I saw was Hair Transplant Day. So let me give you my two cents on the dramas:

The Diary of A Resentful Woman aka Diary of A Spinster

jLlp9lOL_4abf76_f

Off the batch, I said yes immediately because Kim Seul Gi is in it! I immediately thought of Grace and wondered if she has seen it. Well, it turns out, she did and I even commented on her post! What is wrong with me? Okay, let’s not discuss my aging issue coz it can take days! Kim Seul Gi plays Kong Ji who prefers reading and drawing and gives up on the idea of finding a spouse. One day, she was on the swing and reciting a poem (or whatever she was doing), she attracted the handsome Magistrate who just moved into her area. He asked her out on a date (through his assistant) but Kong Ji was not ready to unveil herself so she went in with a mask on. Their first date didn’t go well – she ran and threw one of her shoes (which she stole from her bestie, Chun Hyang) to him. He then searched for her with that one shoe he caught. It sounds like Cinderella now, right? They met again later on. She was afraid that he might not like her. She is just an average Jane with unpleasant attitude. He mistook Kong Ji for her bestie (that damn shoe!) so he was ready to marry her. But, on the day he was planning to propose to Chun Hyang, Kong Ji stepped forward and confessed her love. And showed her true self to him.

Seriously, I enjoyed my time watching Diary of A Spinster! It was so much fun! I really don’t know where you can watch it, though. It is only an hour long. I hope someone or MBC would release the subbed for this drama. It’s too cute not to be watched! If you are interested in watching, Grace included links to the drama on her post. Check it out!

Hair Transplant Day

What a title!!!! And seriously, it was just that! I really have nothing good to say about this drama. Please avoid it. I had a good laugh but… *facepalm* Yeah, please do not waste your time watching it.

Just Watched: Splash Splash Love

b1zaBOZ4_ccff12_fBy now I’m sure everyone has seen Splash Splash Love. If you have not already, what the hell are you doing here? Palli park yourself on your favorite couch, bed, corner, or whatever and start this uber cute web drama now!!!!! I mean it!!! This highly anticipated show really won so many hearts, including mine. I think I’ve seen episode 1 nearly 7 times since it aired. The show was too cute. My heart for Yoon Doo Joon went dugun dugun like crayyyyyyzy! Just thinking of him drives my heart speeding to 200 mph! He is insanely adorable and cute! And who doesn’t like his leading lady, right? Kim Seul Gi is utterly cheeky and cute and adorable I just can’t look at her enough! She is a natural actress and she brought the cuteness in her and Doo Joon. Gahhhh, so in love!splashRemember how I said earlier that I need another sageuk drama to complete my 2015 drama resolution? Voila, isn’t it great to end it with Splash Splash Love? I’m so happy that it did!!! And now all I can see is Doo Joon and Seul Gi as Lee Do and Gosam *giggle*. What a cute couple!splash6Splash Splash Love is a perfect Christmas love story even though it has nothing to do with Christmas. Splash told a story of Dan Bi. She is a senior high school who is about to sit for her university exam. Sadly, she has math anxiety and really has no way of getting away with it. On the day of her exam, it was pouring hard. She worried for her exam so hard that she forgot her yellow umbrella in the bus. She keeps hoping that she could disappear. She was not ready to take the exam and felt she will not excel in it. She sat on a bench in a park and stared at the water puddle. She wondered if she jumps into the puddle, it will take her to somewhere else. She looked over the puddle, she saw and heard something through it. Her mind was set, she knew if she jumps into it, she will be somewhere else. She took a few steps back, ran and jump into the puddle! Voila and the water act as a medium and transported her to joseon time! Yeap, she time traveled to hundred of years to King Se Jong Yi Do era!

When she arrived in Lee Do (the King’s short name) side of the world, the place was facing a major drought. Dan Bi introduced herself as Gosam. In current world, Gosam means student but back then, it means eunuch. So Dan Bi was confused as one and since she appeared out of nowhere, she promised that she will disappear once it rain. Meanwhile, Lee Do began to feel smitten by his new Gosam. He has trouble with math and Dan Bi miraculously was able to solve the math problem he gave her. And engineering, architect, neuroscience, medical and astronomy problems! Come to think of it, she is GOOD!!!

King Lee Do and Dan Bi spent time together daily and they eventually fell in love. The hardest part is that she’s from a different era and started to miss her mom. He wants her to stay with him but she will only be his mistress, since he is married. These two love birds eventually separated because of her promise to return to her time when it really rain. And she did but lo and behold, she met a man that looks exactly like Lee Do! So we know how the ending would be… Gah, what a beautiful love story.splash9Splash Splash Love not only a great web romance drama, the OST is also as awesome as the drama. Gosh, I love this drama so much I think I need another rewatch! I love every second of this show. It is so fluffy, so funny, so easy to watch. Really, if you’re depressed or need a quick pick-me-up, Splash Splash Love is to go to! jLl6R2M4_682be3_f

Currently Watching: Oh My Ghost

fullsizephoto603228

I told myself I will never watch this. I heard from chingus how this show crosses some ethic line. Plus, I’m not a big Jo Jung Suk! Or so I thought… When I was in Malaysia, I saw several episodes of You Are The Best Lee Soon Shin. I was intrigued by him and he actually made me laugh. When I first saw him in King 2 Hearts, he melted my heart there but that was it. There was no spark between him and I. I immediately concluded that we are not meant to be. That changed a bit until I saw Lee Soon Shin that only made me realized he isn’t bad. I even told DDee (in person, too!) that I finally considering him after declaring myself to the world via tweeter that I’m not interested in him. I believe another person who did not get why I don’t like him is Snow.

Oh_My_Ghost-0002

But how I actually succumbed to Oh My Ghost? I promised Erl that I would watch it if she will watch My Beautiful Bride. Hey, it’s a good trade, right? And I’m ahead of my league. I have been marathon the series since the morning I came back and I’m currently on episode 14. 2 more episodes to go! *wiggles brows* Yeap, I’m fast! To be honest, the stories were wrong at one level but was compensated later and as Erl said, they justified it. And I like that the writer justified it but even that, I still think it is too much at many levels! *shudder* Come to think about it, there are many young watchers for this drama as well. Even though they rate it for age 15 and above, I bet kids under 15 are still watching it. Ai… Sorry, mother instinct is kicking and I’m quite concerned. But… *shakes head in disbelief* who cares, I’m watching it anyway and I have a great laugh since the beginning. To be honest, I have not been laughing this much from watching dramas lately. Oh My Ghost is making me craving for more REAL romcom! Can we get another one with less sexual desire as this one? Ooops, maybe a little *giggle*

Oh_My_Ghost-0020

So what do I like about Oh My Ghost so far? The characters! Surprisingly, there is no one to hate here! How is this possible? *covers her mouth* The only thing you wanna hate is how dare the writer is using sex as a next step to nirvana! But hey, we are all adult here so sex is nothing but a necessary activity for human…. and ghost! *laughs* Amuden, the story is wickedly weird! Here is my take on Oh My Ghost. Sun Ae is a virgin ghost. She needs a human body in order for her to move on to her nirvana, or to wherever she suppose to go. There is a time limit to achieve it but her time is almost up. One day, as always, she was chased by her sharman and found Bong Seon’s fragile body as her target for hideout. But Sun Ae suddenly stuck in this human’s body for no apparent reason, and she couldn’t figure out her way to get out. With no choice, she decided to find out about Bong Seon. Unknowingly though, Bong Seon has the capability to see ghosts since small. Her ability really pulls her down, and with her extreme shyness and lack on self esteem, Bong Seon became the easiest target for Sun Ae. Through Bong Seon, Sun Ae found that Bong Seon’s boss aka chef Kang Seon Woo to be the most ideal man for her gateway to nirvana.

Oh_My_Ghost-0007

Seon Woo was surprised with the changes with Bong Seon, not knowing that she’s possessed by a virgin ghost. Sun Ae drives Bong Seon body on cruise control and accelerate her to the next level! Everyone at the restaurant were surprised by the new and improved Bong Seon. They were so used to her for apologizing for anything and everything that the new her almost seems like they won a lottery! Her driven personality to get laid really bothered Seon Woo in the beginning  but eventually, as we all predicted, he fell for her obnoxious and loud personality even though he felt confused on why she is suddenly different than before. One day, he got her sick and brought her to the hospital. Sun Ae was finally able to escape the body. Once awake, Bong Seon realized the date, time and where she at and it didn’t reconcile with her last memory. She knew that her body was possessed. When she finally met Sun Ae, she refused to let the ghost possessed her body again but eventually made a pact after seeing that Seon Woo may fall for his college friend. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the reason Bong Seon works for Seon Woo is because she secretly in love with him but too shy to approach him due to her personality. Sun Ae is Bong Seon’s key to get her man but when she herself is with him, she realized all the memories he’s been telling her is his memory with Sun Ae. She decided to break up with him and left him alone in the altar… Not literally, of course! *giggle*

Oh_My_Ghost-0016

Yeah, the story sounded complicated but it makes sense to me. I hope it makes sense to  you. Many of the people I spoke with does not like Sun Ae. They felt that her character is sketchy, unethical, annoying, and on their nerves. And some said that they do not see how Seon Woo and Bong Seon could be together. I also heard that they just don’t like the OTP due to weak chemistry. *rubs chin* *shrugs* I really don’t know what to say… I watch for the story so I typically don’t put that much thought into the rest. And that’s why I said there is no single character to hate because in my mind, I’m following the story of this drama. Would I suggest it? Absolutely! But you need to judge it yourself whether to like or hate Oh My Ghost. The flaws are there but I don’t really care… Oooh there is another side story which I failed to discuss. How did Sun Ae die? *dun dun dun* Watch it if you’re curious *giggle*. Yeap, I’m not tellin’!

Currently Watching: Infinite Power

infinite

Found another webtoon drama!!! *jumps in the air and kicks legs* You know I’m a sucker for webtoon drama. It’s not only short and sweet, the story itself is usually very rich. Infinite Power is a 6-episode drama, 12 minutes long per episode and it is Samsung’s first online-drama debut. How comforting to know that DramaFever decided to air it though. The story is very simple. It started with Sun Jae, who excel in university yet having difficulty in landing a decent job in a corporate world. He went to 5 different interviews and on his last interview, he was criticized by interviewers for not figuring it out the reason why he was turned down from a job offers despite his good grade. Fed up with his rejected life, he decided to move into a boarding house in a suburb owned by an inventor “Macgyver wannabe” with his high school daughter aka cheapskate manager of the house and over-moody teenage son.

infinite1

Sun Jae is not alone in this boarding house. Besides him, there are several other jobless housemates who are on the same boat as him and then, there’s Kim Sol. Sol is trying hard to success as a manicurist. The timing between the two was quite funny, they were introduced in the most awkward situation. Solo came home drunk and landed on Sun Jae… She almost vomitted on him *raised brows* or perhaps she did? *covers mouth* Aigooooo, yuck yuck yuck! Infinite Power got its name through this homemade power generator designed by the man of the house. Does it work? I don’t know… I’m currently on episode 4 and so far, the story is going well. It’s quite slow though and wary Sun Jae’s face really bothers me a lot *pouts*

Since there’s only 6 episode with accumulated time of no more than an hour and half, why not watching it? It’s not as funny as I hope for however… but the story is interesting. Watch it, you got nothing to lose anyway *wink*
