I have not been watching sageuk dramas for months and I purposely saving it for the best! For my Yoo Seung Ho *wink*. And the wait is worth my time! I am enjoying this drama from the beginning until now. I have been on top of it and seriously, I just can’t get enough of it. I do notice a few people dropping this show because they found it frustrating, tiresome and disappointing. Putting my bias aside, I just can’t find Ruler to be tiresome and disappointing. Frustrating? Perhaps. I would blame the writer for going around in circles. Also, it rocks people’s interest differently.
It feels only yesterday I started Goblin and today I realized that the show is ending soon! This is not a joke! How is it possible? It just started and we are only 4 episodes left? I have yet to watch the latest episode but since only one episode gets to air this week, I have decided to put it on hold until I can marathon the next 4 episodes next week. I don’t know, please do not trust me *laughs*. Gong Yoo has the power to suck me through his show! His good looks is so attractive, I can’t let it slide off my screen tee hee hee
Hello again!!! I finally got the girls (Nelly and Erl *waves*) back for another combined post. After “W” I was afraid we would never work together again.
My Love for end of year list is humongous, I read every single one I see. So I was very excited to put this one together.
The rules were simple: 1. Any show that aired in 2016 2. It can be SK, Taiwan, China and Japan 3. only get 2 picks per question and one honorable mention ( I suck at following my own rules). Lastly 4. Only shows that have finish airing. I have tons of love for mermaids, weightlifting fairies and goblins, but they can’t be in this list! Also keep in mind, these are our opinions, life would be boring all loved the same things. Lastly guys there may be spoilers so please beware. Let’s get it started! Continue reading
I finally saw the anticipated KBS drama special, Page Turner. In the beginning, I thought the show has ended. But it turns out I still have another episode to go. Yay for me! So glad that I do not need to rush my watch just to finish it. I believe the third and final episode will air tonight. I’m not sure if I am able to catch up on it this week but either way, I will watch it when the time is available.
Page Turner is very interesting. I usually dislike high school drama but this one was written quite well. I found it very solid. Kim So Hyun is a solid actor and her presence really forced Ji Soo and Shin Jae Haa to step up in their roles as well. I love the three of them. The boys can be a bit immature but that’s how boys are, right? Besides, I do not want to be overcritical with them. They are still young and this is a high school drama. So why not give them a break and enjoy the story, right?
So here is the thing. Yoon Yoo Seol is a great pianist and a top student in her school. Being pianist, however, is not her dream. She was forced to be one because of her mom. It is sad but Yoo Seol is a great daughter and listens to her mom. One day, she got into an accident and lost her sight. She now has to adjust to her new lifestyle as a blind person. Seo Jin Mok was her mom’s student and he is the second best in the school. He and Yoo Seol were neck to neck on being the best of the best. Though enemies, Jin Mok felt guilty and a became concerned over her sudden fatal. He volunteers to be her guide but Jeong Cha Shik stepped in and offered his service instead. Cha Shik lost his chance to continue his career in sports due to his injury and now looking for a new opportunity for his future life and working with Yoo Seol is a great opportunity for him.
Cha Shik’s dad was a pianist and he thought going back to the root would be his next adventure. However, he is rusty and need guidance. Being Yoo Seol’s assistance would give him opportunity to pick up and make music his future career. But we all know Yoo Seol. She’s a bit bratty and stuck up even at her current condition. Do you think she would give in and be Cha Shik’s mentor? This 3-episode KBS2 drama special is a must watch. Though it portrays the life of high schoolers, it is also warm and hearty. I really am looking forward to tonight’s episode. Yes, I will park myself in front of tv and watch it raw *grins*.
You’ve heard me saying this over and over before that I don’t like to watch high school drama. Most of the time, it is because of bully and jealousy between kids. I just can’t stand it. Kids should behave like kids, you know? But then again, they are only human and bully cases are everywhere. I’m blessed that even though I grew up in all girls school, not once that I encountered such bully cases. I don’t even know it existed if not because of Korean dramas. I was well sheltered by my parents and they tended to my every needs. I felt lucky now that I think of it… So, so lucky! But for some of us, maybe are not so lucky. Erl told me that she couldn’t watch dramas with bully issues because she had terrible experience growin’ up in her school. Even that she took my advice and saw Angry Mom. Bless her soul for taking my advice *beams*.
I wasn’t planning on watching Who Are You School 2015 simply because I had bad experience with high school dramas. They are either too much for me to handle or too boring for me to stay awake. And this is why I hesitant to start this drama. I kept hearing good things from girlfriends (Jules and Mari) and read quite daebak tweets on my Tweeter timeline. Still, my heart was not feeling it. I came back from Japan and was determined to give it a try. I’m giving a high school genre drama my last chance! I want Who Are You School 2015 to prove me that I’m wrong. 10 episodes later, I am wrong! *smiles*. This drama, despite the heavy bully issue that really encourages me to cuss and tosses cat toys to my tellie, I’m happy to report to you that it is written so well and the characters are solid performers. The protagonist and the antagonist are both strong! Even though I hate the antagonist, I applaud the actress for playing such a hard character!
Kim So Hyun. I’m sure you all familiar with her. I couldn’t watch The Moon that Embraces the Sun because of her. I barely able to get through Rooftop Prince because of her, too. But after that, I adore her so much in Ma Boy! God, this girl is heading her way to be one excellent actress. To able to act as an antagonist at a tender age, you know she is not the typical cookie cutter actress from South Korea now. She is a great actress. I’m in love with her more and more now. She is definitely one of the best actresses to watch! She was awesome in Reset even though the drama was disappointing. And now she continues to be awesome in this drama. I must say this girl is a chameleon. Give her any scripts, she will give more than the PD would ask!
Ok, back to Who Are You School 2015. It is full of typical high school drama plots, to be honest. Bully issues. Overprotective parents. Rebellious kids. Mistaken identity. Frenemies. Triangle love. Revenge. This drama has it all. I’m not surprised but the reason why I like it is because the writer give surprises that I never imagine it could be done. When you have seen a lot of kdramas, you typically would know the next reaction for each character. Well, I was a bit surprised in here. I’m not gonna tell you everything so if you haven’t seen it, please watch it. But here is what I can summarize it for you. Eun Bi is a victim of bully in her high school. Eun Byeol is Eun Bi’s twin sister and living a glamorous life as a popular girl in her high school. They both lead a complete different life when Byeol was adopted and Bi left behind in the orphanage. I’m not sure why they were not adopted together and for sure, the girls never knew they are twins. I could be wrong. Someone please let me know… Anyway, something mysterious happened. I am so lost to how it happened. Eun Byeol went missing from her field trip, which took place in a town where Eun Bi is. And for odd reason, Eun Bi was saved from drowning and she woke up with no recollection of what happened or her own identity. So long story short, Byeol mom thought Bi is her daughter! Eun Bi plays along and believes she is her mom’s daughter. She tries to blend in with her school friends. Fortunately, she is welcomed by all due to Byeol’s popularity in school. But one day her memory came back and she feared that someone would know. Thank goodness her mom is understanding and asks for her to play along as Eun Byeol. Fair enough, right? *raises brow*
Well, all fun must come to an end! Guess who showed up as a transfer student in Eun Byeol’s class? None other than her antagonist, Kang So Yeong. I shudder just thinking of her name. She really get my BP high! This girl is a great actress! She not only made my blood boiling, she made me wanna cuss out loud! Holy smoke! So when she showed up in her class, Eun Byeol (or Bi) knows who she is. But instead of showing fear, she is determined to fight back. I believe having a great support system really helps her in tackling So Yeong herself. So Yeong was confused in the beginning but later convinced that Byeol is Bi. She is using all her might to get back on Eun Bi. But something happened. While pursuing her goal into revealing Byeol’s true identity, she didn’t plan it so well that her revenge plan was taken down by her entire class without Byeol speaking a single word! Oh my god, when that happened, I was like “in yo face, m*ther phocker!” Yeap, excuse my language! You didn’t see that coming, did ya? *giggles*. So did I *laughs*.
Who Are You School 2015 is ending next week. I started this drama on Tuesday, June 9, and I’m 10 episodes down. I have 4 more episodes to be current and just in time for the finale next week. Aren’t I the best? I know, I shocked myself too. How did I do it? With a great story and cast, I was extremely sucked in to it. Plus, a little jetlag helped my way in catching up with this drama *covers her face*. Anyway, if you haven’t seen Who Are You School 2015, I think you should consider adding it to your drama watch list. I am so dead focus on Eun Byeol/Bi and So Yeong I actually, for the first time, doesn’t care who will Byeol choose for her boyfriend. Seriously, the boys are cute but I got my eyes on these girls. They made Who Are You School 2015 so real!
I was not sure what to anticipate when I started Reset. I saw the trailers several times. I knew it has something to do with crime. I knew the drama would be very thrilling. I was hungry for drama that could and would knock me off the chair. I am not easily impressed, lately. Korean dramas have been really lacking whachamacallit… the oooomph. Yes, lacking the oooomph. I was frustrated with the My Secret Hotel. As much as I hesitated to start with another drama that could possibly lead to nowhere, I went in anyway. Mind you that I dislike reading synopsis (yeah, another bad trait of mine) so watching trailers can either help me understand the drama somewhat or not. In Reset case, I don’t get it. But what makes me wanna watch it anyway? Because of Chun Jung Myung.
Chun Jung-Myung, once known as baby-faced actor, is no longer a baby. The man has grown handsomely. I’ve only seen him in What’s Up, Fox? as an immature world traveler who fell in love with his elder sister’s BFF. Yeah, he looked pretty young then since it was a 2006 drama. Fast forward 8 years later, the main grow up pretty well. His coldness and boldness as prosecutor Cha Woo Jin is quite impressive. I should say he’s pretty darn good actor for able to make me believe he’s a new person in Reset. And I like that he wears a tiny smirk on his face! I find it cute! Back to Reset, this OCN production drama is only 10 episodes long. Well, we all know OCN dramas are quite short but the quality of each drama is pretty splendid. Reset is spectacular and the first episode was aaaaaahmazing! So far, 8 episodes have aired and we are 2 episodes to go. After episode 7 though, I was a little confused and so is Bel, my drama sidekick. This drama is quite tricky to begin with. You really have to pay a lot of attention.
The story started with Cha Woo Jin himself. He’s an impressive prosecutor and is able to get victim’s confessions, and perhaps to hear the truth, just like that! His secret to success? His ability to hypnotize at a clicking of his pen! Yeap, he love to click his pen. Normally, it would drive me crazy but it works in his line of work. One night, as he accompanied his drunken colleague for a fresh air, they stumbled on a group of troubled teens in the dark walkway. One of the girl ninja attacked them. She is Eun Bi. Woo Jin was stunned as she resembled his dead girlfriend. And somewhat, his twisted fate with Eun Bi didn’t stop there. The next day, she was caught for a murder she claimed she knew nothing of. Yes, this high school kid was found guilty and did not has an alibi to prove it. Her case was taken by his crook colleague. Eun Bi begged for help and to make sure she truly is innocent, he hypnotized her. Sure enough, she was blamed for the whole shebang. He took her case and was able to clear her name out. But since she’s a minor and may possibly targeted, he sent her back to her home but only to realize she’s unwanted by her family. His assistant, who happened to live next door to his apartment, took Eun Bi in. While protecting her, Woo Jin is tested by a case that could answer the reason his dead girlfriend was abused (possibly raped) and suicide. But he is facing many road blocks at the moment… It’s quite scary to be honest.
I’m in the middle of watching episode 8 and I’m thinking out loud *rubbing chin* will the murder case get solved in the next two episodes? Will there be a sequel? Truthfully, I do not see how this show can be wrapped up in the next two episodes. I am skeptical but then again, OCN is known for short dramas. I just don’t want to hear a sequel and ends Reset with a major cliffhanger. So far, I don’t hear any rumor so I think we are good. I’m still skeptical and curious, and I really want to know the ending. The dark mood is really awesome and it set a thrilling yet chilly tone, kinda reminded me of Vampire Prosecutor, TEN and God’s Quiz. Reset is awesome like that too. You should watch.
