I got drawn into this drama because of my good friend, Maki. Yes, we squee regularly on Saito and she loves spamming me with (illegal) photos of this hawt man! She recently spammed me with Hirugao (the movie) trailers and I knew that it is time to start watching the drama. I heard the movie is independent of the drama but I think it is worth understanding the history of the main OTP. I mean… c’mon, I will do whatever I could to have sultry Saito on my screen. Saito Saito Saito! I hate sharing but he’s worth sharing *wink*. He is juicy like that *giggle*.
Since 5-ji Kara 9-ji Made, I yearned for another romance Japanese drama. When Bel suggested that we should watch Sekai Ichi Muzukashii Koi, I was delighted. But we both do not know the actor and actress playing the lead. It was a gamble but we plunged into it anyway. No harm, right? And I thought if I don’t feel the chemistry between the OTP and chemistry between me and the drama, the solution is simple! Drop it! Easy as that! But guess what? I did not drop it! In fact, I love it!!!! Why must it be a weekly show??? Why???
The storyline is simple but the process can be complicated. Well, at least, our hotelier Reiji is making it look harder than it is. Falling in love is not a rocket science but for sure, Reiji really thinks he needs to do a lot for a simple gesture. Reiji ah, all you need to do is ask. Please do not worry. But I get it… For his first time, rejection is in his mind. What if she doesn’t like me? What if she does? So many questions came to his mind. You won’t hear this but you can tell just from his face. He does try very hard to win her heart.
Sorry, don’t get what I mean? *giggle* Here is my quick synopsis *beams*. Reiji in a hotel heir. As a successful hotelier, Reiji has the very right to be arrogant. But due to his arrogant-ness, he became less approachable, especially in the romance world. If you take a look at him, he doesn’t look like a pleasant man. He looks mean! There is nothing cute about him. But when he bumped into Misaki while she was cleaning up, he was alerted but didn’t put any thought into it. And then he bumped into her in the gym and again found out she is working as part of the management team under him. He started to feel intrigued and curious by her and eventually fall for her. But the he approaches her and does things she likes including drinking milk in front of her (which he hates milk big time!) really got his secretary and driver’s attention. From then on, they both try to milk into Reiji’s feeling and push him to Misaki.
This 10-episode drama is so cute! Reiji’s stubbornness and arrogant-ness can be a total mess but Ohno Satoshi made his character funny! Who would have thought! 6 episodes have aired so far and now I’m dying to see what the next 4 episodes will be. Misaki seems nice but she has a secret or ambition that she’s not telling. Would she include him into her world? Let’s find out! This drama is totally underrated! Please watch it!
Yes, I’m on my second season with Neko Zamurai. It is unfortunate though that I started this drama when Debbie was dying from her illness. It was hard to watch it because Tamanojo looks exactly like Debbie. But we think Tama-chan is so cute it’s worth watching her in memory of Debbie *smiles*. So yeah, let’s watch it!
Neko Zamurai 2 is different than the first season but majority of the casts are mostly the same except for the landlord and few other casts. This time, his landlord is smarter than the first season. No money for the rent? No problem. Just hand over all his fresh plucked, fatty daikon and call it even on one month rent! Oy, I laughed so hard at this. You will also witness a cat massage scene. Tama-chan was not happy! Another episode was a crossover between him and Tama-chan. I’m not going into details but body swap with cat is interesting and fun to watch!!! I laughed so hard until I cried. Too funny!
This 12-episode drama is kinda-sorta a continuation from the first season and the movie. Yeah, I did not blog the movie… *looks down* I was too lazy. But even if you haven’t seen them, you can still watch season 2 with no biggie. I’ve seen 9 episodes so far and my son and I are patiently waiting for Tama-chan!!! She’s just too adorable! And if you are like us, you’ll definitely love the ending theme to this drama. It’s as addictive as Christmas jingles! This is a thumb up drama! See, I told you I’ll be watching more Japanese dramas this year. I don’t know why but I’m attracted to Jdrama more than ever. The fact that they can make good dramas any romance element makes me feel more calm, comfy and relief. I’m into romance but it’s good to simply watch dramas on daily life. It is comforting and I could relate theirs with my daily life struggle. Kdramas are catching up with better plots too but their still lacking and sometimes can be unrealistic and dumb… I guess I’m maturing up in my watch. Or maybe I’m PMS-ing today *giggles*
Neko Zamurai is an easy watch. It’s so easy I could finish it in overnight. Each episode is 23 minutes long and before you know it, you’ll be hitting that next episode button. Yeap, this is me at the moment. And I’m afraid I might finish before I’m able to upload this post. This drama is pretty calm, light and easy to watch. And I like the pace of each episode. You won’t feel like you’ve been rushed and the development of the main character is very consistent. They really took the time to peel off his skin little by little and unveil who he is. One thing I desire to see is his smile….. If only he would but he is depressed *pouts* but with a valid reason! *giggles* I can’t tell you now, you just have to watch it.
So, what Neko Zamurai is all about? Madarame-sama is an unemployed samurai. He is penniless and could not afford to buy food nor paying his room rent. He’s been begging for a job post at one of the prestigious home but was turned down numerous time. He used to be a known samurai but his popularity dipped way down for a reason I have yet to know and now no one fears him anymore. One day, on his way home, he was approached by Sakichi. Sakichi explained that his master is possessed by this goblin cat he recently adopted named Tamanojo. Sakichi wants him to take care of this goblin cat! But when Madarame-sama came to finish the goblin cat… It is history! He didn’t kill the cat but instead told Sakichi that he did and handed Tamanojo’s fake urn. Madarame keeps the cat. Their relationship is out of this world cute! He wanted to laugh from this kitty’s cuteness but couldn’t. It is hard to watch a mean looking samurai charmed by this little kitty but believe me, he is charmed alright! *laughs*
Madarame-sama also realized that the kitty is harmless and not a goblin as Sakichi thought he is. But now, he is facing danger because Sakichi’s master really missed Tamanojo and has hired someone to find Tamanojo’s killer. While all that is happeneing, you will get to know Madarame-sama more and more. Often time, you will see him having inner monologues with himself. You will also see him practicing his sword and getting annoyed with this kitty. But no sweat, it is too hilarious to ignore these scenes. Overall, Neko Zamurai is pretty entertaining and just one of the cutest dramas I have seen in years! For under 12 episodes, this easy watch drama is a must watch especially if you are a cat lover like myself *wink*.
