I finally able to start this glorious drama everyone has been raving about. I was either getting ready or already started my traveling when it first began airing. I was full of envy and jealousy that my Twitter friends could watch it and I couldn’t. But now the show has ended and they all are in withdrawal stage while me, enjoying every minute of it. In fact, I even spamming and tweeting madness whenever I get a chance. Some friend I am, huh? *laughs*

Just Watched: Legend of the Blue Sea

y4a5vkp4_d005f1_f

In the beginning, I hesitated to start this drama because… you know, I am just partial with Lee Min Ho. He is a good looking and handsome guy but he does nothing to my heart. Besides, I was a bit disappointed with his character in Heirs. Nevertheless, I went with my gut again this time and saw it anyway because I love mermaid! Well, not really but… the idea of a mermaid in a kdrama is interesting! *laughs* And I love Giana, she is so pretty! I also like her casual acting. I mean, she’s not the greatest actress but she is awesome and I adore her.

The first 6 episodes were torturous. I don’t know where to begin. I did not feel the chemistry between the OTP. The show itself was funny, though. I laughed so hard. And the story itself is extremely mystical and magical. What kept me going was the past lives of the OTP – how they met and how he reincarnated from one life to another looking very much the same and how she still able to remember him. Well, I guess she should… She’s a mermaid, so she should have good memories, right? The Legend of the Blue Sea did not only cover their present life, the show also gave us flashback scenes when they met in Joseon era. Their lives intertwined by chance and the writer continued to build the OTP’s relationship off of that. However, there is one thing that made this love story never gets its happy ending. The mermaid continuously erased his memories before she disappeared. And this is why every time they met, it feels like they are falling in love for the first time.

Magical? Yeah! Mystical? Absolutely. Tiring? Not really. In the past, the mermaid, Shim Chung, had a tough life living in the human world. But, in this modern world, she succeeded. She got closer to Joon Jae very quickly; Joon Jae is the love of her life. Joon Jae happened to like her for a fairly good reason, too. Being a professional illusionary and thief, he had his eyes on Chung’s jade bracelet. So this happenstance was very comical to me. I really enjoyed the troublesome and the meddlesome these two goofs encountered in Spain. The only problem is their twisty path reincarnated with them too. The villain from the Joseon era followed and haunted them in this life as well. And you know what this means, right? It is like a karma… If you don’t take care of the business now, it will continue to follow you in the next life. So Joon Jae and Chung finally took care of it.

As I said before, I did not feel the chemistry between the OTP in the first 6 episodes. I also kept going back and forth whether I should drop the show all while continuously watching it. I am so glad that I talked myself out of it because the OTP grew on me more and more. They are visually stunning together and they really carried the show beautifully. I became so in love with them more and more the minute she moved into his home. The drama did drag but by this time, I couldn’t care less anymore.

Legend of the Blue Sea has 20 episodes. When it is over, I was completely feeling down. My son and I really enjoyed the show. By all means, the show did not get the Descendants of the Sun popularity, but for whatever reason, I found a few of my tlist that I wouldn’t think would watch Legend watched it. And best of all? They all loved it! Surprise surprise! I highly recommend Legend of the Blue Sea. I also highly recommend for a rewatch too! *beam* Oooh, one last thing…. You can’t have a Min Ho drama without a catchy theme song, right? *sings* This is a love story……. *giggles*

Currently Watching: Five Children

I can’t believe I boarded on Five Children train!!!! Seriously, I was not expecting this! In the beginning, the synopsis did not grasp me. It sounded too makjang for my taste. And then last month, I was browsing the tv channels in my hotel room and Five Children was on. Episode 11 to be exact. So I watched. And watched. And continue to watch until the end. It didn’t feel makjang at all. In fact, it felt very earthy and comedy-ish. I immediately got hooked on the show. Obviously, I did not want to pull a Grace so I decided to start it from the beginning. And as of last week, I saw the newly subbed aired episodes! Yeap, I managed to catch up!!! I was so determined to do so mainly because I wanted to start on another new drama and I will not start until I’m caught up with Five Children! *giggles* I feel like a champ now! *flexes her biceps*

So Five Children is a great family drama and it is currently my current crack family weekend drama! It is been very smooth and easy to watch up until last week. But I think something huge is about to happen. I mean, think about it, it’s not a family drama without crazy hair pulling, fist punching, and cussing! Also, I feel that after 28 episodes, this drama though is seriously wasted a lot of time on the second brother. His story is the most uninteresting one of the bunch. But hey, I know it is a family drama and all family drama loves incorporating every single character’s background story. I personally feel it could have been done in a more productive way. Nevertheless, I’m still enjoying Five Children the most for two reasons: the divorced couple and the golf couple! Who are they? Well, *rubs hands*, allow me to give you my version through their romance *wink*.

Sang Tae and Mi Jung: They are both single. Sang Tae is a widow with two kids. After his sick wife died, he moved in with his in-laws. Who does that? Shouldn’t he go with his family? Anyway, that’s what he did and his in-laws appreciated his consideration. I find him rather gentleman for what he did. Mi Jung, on the other hand, is a divorcee. Her husband cheated on her with her best friend! That basturd! She has been divorced for three years but her children, 3 kids, were left clueless. They assumed that their dad is in the US for work. Even Mi Jung’s grandmother was clueless!

The two met at their workplace. Mi Jung got hired as an Assistant Manager to Team Leader Lee Sang Tae. In the beginning, Mi Jung felt that Sang Tae has given a romance vibe but the misunderstanding forces them to distance themselves. Eventually, they sorted out their feelings for each other and started dating. The only problem is Sang Tae’s in-laws, especially his mother in law, are not happy that he’s seeing Mi Jung. In my opinion, his mother in law has no right in stopping him and his dating life. Throwing tantrum will not change the back the fact that her daughter is dead! BUT, there is another hurdle Sang Tae has yet to see. Though his dad will understand, his mom will also deny Mi Jung, too. So what would Sang Tae do? Should he please his family or himself?

Sang Min and Yun Tae: These two singles met in an unexpected way. Yun Tae, Sang Tae’s youngest sibling, is heartbroken. Jin Joo, Sang Tae’s sister in law and Yun Tae’s friend, likes Tae Min. Tae Min and Yun Tae have been friends for years but Yun Tae never confessed her love for him! Her shyness gave Tae Min away to Jin Joo. Devastated, she walked out of the club drunk and got into what she thought to be a taxi. It turns out, she got into Sang Min’s car. Sang Min is a professional yet diva-ish golfer. He is a bit weird to a sense that can be very ignorant and naive at the same time. It is hard to describe his personality. He definitely an edgy diva!

Anyway, the two met when she got into his car drunk. He kicked her out of the car. Yun Tae accidentally took his phone. Diva Sang Min was concerned over his phone and made Yun Tae shut it off. However, before the phone exchange, Sang Min’s constant harassment made Yun Tae’s insecurity deeper. Something happened later that after the phone exchange, Sang Min continuously to harass her. She definitely aroused his curiosity. He was puzzled how Yun Tae, not once, attracted to his handsome look! *laughs* The man then went from completely psycho to madly in love with Yun Tae. He has found his way into her home and now, he’s working on getting into her heart! But devastated Yun Tae is still heartbroken… Can he make her forget her crush and go to him instead?

article_14132851969301

So what these four have in common? Sang Min is the model and spokesperson for Sang Tae’s company. Yun Tae is Sang Tae’s sister. And unknown to Yun Tae, Tae Min is Sang Min’s younger brother. Yeap, it’s a small world, isn’t it? Typical kdrama plots, chingu! There are other interesting side stories you should be aware, too. Some  are funny, some are just… meh. But who cares… that’s what FF button is for! *giggle* Now, please get your azz and park them on your couch (where it should be!). Five Children is one hilarious and comical family drama. One must not miss this show. Every year, there is that one fabulous family drama and I can say Five Children is the one! Watch it! I’ll judge you if you aren’t watching it! *evil eyes*

Currently Watching: Oh My Ghost

fullsizephoto603228

I told myself I will never watch this. I heard from chingus how this show crosses some ethic line. Plus, I’m not a big Jo Jung Suk! Or so I thought… When I was in Malaysia, I saw several episodes of You Are The Best Lee Soon Shin. I was intrigued by him and he actually made me laugh. When I first saw him in King 2 Hearts, he melted my heart there but that was it. There was no spark between him and I. I immediately concluded that we are not meant to be. That changed a bit until I saw Lee Soon Shin that only made me realized he isn’t bad. I even told DDee (in person, too!) that I finally considering him after declaring myself to the world via tweeter that I’m not interested in him. I believe another person who did not get why I don’t like him is Snow.

Oh_My_Ghost-0002

But how I actually succumbed to Oh My Ghost? I promised Erl that I would watch it if she will watch My Beautiful Bride. Hey, it’s a good trade, right? And I’m ahead of my league. I have been marathon the series since the morning I came back and I’m currently on episode 14. 2 more episodes to go! *wiggles brows* Yeap, I’m fast! To be honest, the stories were wrong at one level but was compensated later and as Erl said, they justified it. And I like that the writer justified it but even that, I still think it is too much at many levels! *shudder* Come to think about it, there are many young watchers for this drama as well. Even though they rate it for age 15 and above, I bet kids under 15 are still watching it. Ai… Sorry, mother instinct is kicking and I’m quite concerned. But… *shakes head in disbelief* who cares, I’m watching it anyway and I have a great laugh since the beginning. To be honest, I have not been laughing this much from watching dramas lately. Oh My Ghost is making me craving for more REAL romcom! Can we get another one with less sexual desire as this one? Ooops, maybe a little *giggle*

Oh_My_Ghost-0020

So what do I like about Oh My Ghost so far? The characters! Surprisingly, there is no one to hate here! How is this possible? *covers her mouth* The only thing you wanna hate is how dare the writer is using sex as a next step to nirvana! But hey, we are all adult here so sex is nothing but a necessary activity for human…. and ghost! *laughs* Amuden, the story is wickedly weird! Here is my take on Oh My Ghost. Sun Ae is a virgin ghost. She needs a human body in order for her to move on to her nirvana, or to wherever she suppose to go. There is a time limit to achieve it but her time is almost up. One day, as always, she was chased by her sharman and found Bong Seon’s fragile body as her target for hideout. But Sun Ae suddenly stuck in this human’s body for no apparent reason, and she couldn’t figure out her way to get out. With no choice, she decided to find out about Bong Seon. Unknowingly though, Bong Seon has the capability to see ghosts since small. Her ability really pulls her down, and with her extreme shyness and lack on self esteem, Bong Seon became the easiest target for Sun Ae. Through Bong Seon, Sun Ae found that Bong Seon’s boss aka chef Kang Seon Woo to be the most ideal man for her gateway to nirvana.

Oh_My_Ghost-0007

Seon Woo was surprised with the changes with Bong Seon, not knowing that she’s possessed by a virgin ghost. Sun Ae drives Bong Seon body on cruise control and accelerate her to the next level! Everyone at the restaurant were surprised by the new and improved Bong Seon. They were so used to her for apologizing for anything and everything that the new her almost seems like they won a lottery! Her driven personality to get laid really bothered Seon Woo in the beginning  but eventually, as we all predicted, he fell for her obnoxious and loud personality even though he felt confused on why she is suddenly different than before. One day, he got her sick and brought her to the hospital. Sun Ae was finally able to escape the body. Once awake, Bong Seon realized the date, time and where she at and it didn’t reconcile with her last memory. She knew that her body was possessed. When she finally met Sun Ae, she refused to let the ghost possessed her body again but eventually made a pact after seeing that Seon Woo may fall for his college friend. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the reason Bong Seon works for Seon Woo is because she secretly in love with him but too shy to approach him due to her personality. Sun Ae is Bong Seon’s key to get her man but when she herself is with him, she realized all the memories he’s been telling her is his memory with Sun Ae. She decided to break up with him and left him alone in the altar… Not literally, of course! *giggle*

Oh_My_Ghost-0016

Yeah, the story sounded complicated but it makes sense to me. I hope it makes sense to  you. Many of the people I spoke with does not like Sun Ae. They felt that her character is sketchy, unethical, annoying, and on their nerves. And some said that they do not see how Seon Woo and Bong Seon could be together. I also heard that they just don’t like the OTP due to weak chemistry. *rubs chin* *shrugs* I really don’t know what to say… I watch for the story so I typically don’t put that much thought into the rest. And that’s why I said there is no single character to hate because in my mind, I’m following the story of this drama. Would I suggest it? Absolutely! But you need to judge it yourself whether to like or hate Oh My Ghost. The flaws are there but I don’t really care… Oooh there is another side story which I failed to discuss. How did Sun Ae die? *dun dun dun* Watch it if you’re curious *giggle*. Yeap, I’m not tellin’!
